Message	be forced open (and I think closed too). Should be able to hear it moving or shine a light under the dash (right side of gas pedal and up/in about 6 inches to see the wire that pulls the valve cock. Lots of stuff under there so just follow the metal pipes into a small square block next to the heater core. Find a picture of the heater core on-line via search so you know what it looks like...
